Summit
Geared specifically for independent artists and crafters, Hello Craft’s Summit of Awesome is 3 full days of seminars and hands-on workshops, which provide business and technical education for those in the handmade arts community.
Summit seminar subjects ranges from teaching crafters how to deal with taxes and forming LLC’s, to how to develop successful product lines, and brand their lines successfully.
With extra events such as film screenings, the Show of Awesome and networking sessions, the Summit of Awesome provides a complete educational experience for makers of all levels.
The Summit also boasts an incredible line up of inspiring leaders in the handmade movement, as well as an impressive group from the indie crafting community from both the West and East Coasts. Past keynote speakers have included Mary Thomas, CEO of Etsy.com and Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching.
The goal of the Summit of Awesome is to bring together crafters and makers from the U.S. and beyond, to learn, grow, and be prosperous in this ever-changing economy. With a desire to help sustain the handmade movement and support independent crafters within the community, Hello Craft invites all makers to attend the next Summit of Awesome.
We’re gearing of for the 2010 Summit of Awesome, so stay tuned for more info.

SoA 2009
May 1-3
Washington, D.C.
The first ever SOLD OUT Summit of Awesome took place in Mid City, Washington, D.C. Located near downtown, Mid City is home to some of the best independent shops and mom & pop restaurants in D.C., which made the area a perfect host for this event. With our base in the huge home furnishings mecca/theater that is Miss Pixie’s, attendees could take free bike taxi rides to all the Summit locations.
With more than 30 business seminars, the shopping feast that was the Show of Awesome. hands-on workshops such as embroidery, sewing 101, screen printing, and casting demos, and two showings of Handmade Nation, the Summit of Awesome 2009 was just as fun as it was inspiring.
