I just completed teaching my first embroidery class at the amazing and wonderful yarn store  Brooklyn General and… It was so fun.

We learned a multitude of stitches and each student came up with fun and fabulous projects to take home and continue working on.  This is my hilarious sampler of stitches. I just randomly did them on a linen- and it weirdly still came out lovely. But next time I think I will come up with a design to work on that also shows the student all the required stitches.

My students came up with some fabulous projects and Jessie, who was literally having labor induced the day after class ended, was highly productive. Finishing 2 and starting another.  So congrats to Jessie and her new baby!  Jessie was working a lot from a book on soft toys. She started this adorable elephant and finished this cute little mouse.

She is thinking of making a mobile of mice. I love that idea! Another sweet little Jessie project made entirely with the chain stitch.

Julie an expert seamstress had many humorous and fun ideas, most of which focused on inside jokes with her honey.  The adorable pretzel one that she almost finished got lost between classes, a total bummer, ’cause it was oh so cute!  So I cannot wait to see it when it is finsihed as a housewarming gift to her boyfried for when they move in together. Love is so sweet.

Rebecca took on the very ambitious project of an alphabet sampler.  She has 2 little ones so it would make a great piece in her home.  I truly hope she commits to finsiing it because it is off to a very beautiful start…

Check out the lattice couching she did on the “B”- gorgeous!

So really my only compliant is it is over.  The ladies were so great and the class so fun. I love getting people excited about embroidery. I  hope they send me pictures of their finished projects. Maybe next time you can join us!

Our main resources were the amazing book Embroidery A-Z and Jenny Hart’s little stitch book.

Happy Stitching.
