Conceptually Creative.

I recently saw this bear blanket rug piece online and was totally intrigued into checking out the incredible work of french artist Lise Lefebvre. Her work is amazing and inspiring and oh so conceptual!
Lise’s Bear rug is created from recycled wool blankets.

I also am delighted by her series tradition, traditional- in which she plays with notions of propriety and traditional manners and settings at the dinner table. Some elements of her table setting are:

Plates that facilitate licking but cannot hold liquids.

A tablecloth with “cut your own napkins”.

Screen Prints to remind you of the proper placement of silverware,
and a hole in the table to remind you of the ever present “no elbows on the table rule.”

Platinum Housewife.

4th Grad Speech Therapist
And we know I love an artist exploring the role and use of hair. Lise explores the sentimentality of hair and how it can be re-used.

She also created a super fabulous hand knit umbrella, complete with case.

At times the work seems very disjointed, hard to believe it is all coming from the same artist. But if you take the time to read all Lise’s statements she has a strong conceptual thread of domesticity, sentimentality, and re-use.
She is an exciting young artist/ designer willing to experiment and take a risk. I can hardly wait to see what is next!
See all her many other projects here.
